Thoreau believed that if a community
chose to have a center for learning, then the students needed to be the
ones to lay the foundation. These are some of the students, volunteers, and support
network who committed their time and energy to the workshops and farming
at the Eco-Learning Center. As learners, each person
considers his/her labor an investment in the future of the community and
of the planet. As individuals, these are students learning about their personal
potential. Everyone is committed to the act of doing something to effect
change. There should be a round of applause for their efforts. They are
the future leaders, building a framework in which humans exist in concert
with the ecosystem.
